Fishers grew up along I-69, and thousands of people commute through it every day. Its roads have been rebuilt again and again to keep up, most recently SR 37.

The new SR 37

A joint project of the state, Hamilton County, Fishers and Noblesville replaced the stoplights on SR 37 at 126th, 131st, 141st and 146th streets with interchanges: SR 37 now runs below the cross streets, with roundabouts at the ramp ends. The last one, at 141st Street, opened on May 26, 2026. Crashes at these interchanges often come from drivers still driving the old road: missing the new ramps, braking late, or failing to yield entering the roundabouts at the ends of the ramps.

Other Fishers roads

  • I-69, the main commute into Indianapolis, with long rush-hour backups and sudden stops at the 96th Street and 116th Street interchanges
  • 116th Street, a busy east-west road near the Nickel Plate District
  • Trail crossings, where walkers and cyclists cross busy streets

Who handles your crash

Usually the Fishers Police Department. The Indiana State Police often handle crashes on I-69. Near the Marion County line, it may be IMPD or Lawrence police.

Fishers tip

Many I-69 crashes are chain reactions. If several cars were involved, ask the officer which car was hit first and which last, and write it down. The order often decides whose insurance pays.
